Assistance to families

To ensure rapid and safe care when a newborn is admitted to the neonatal unit at HKK, Une Chance de Vivre has created an admission kit for each child. Since their introduction, over 600 kits have been distributed.

1 kit costs $25

  • Diapers and a hat to maintain warmth
  • Clean gauze
  • Sterile Normal Saline ampoules
  • Equipment for intravenous catheter insertion
  • Glucose IV solutions
  • Antibiotics for 48 hours
  • Feeding tubes and syringes
  • Nasal cannulas for oxygen administration in case of respiratory distress
  • Disinfectant, syringes, and needles

Financial assistance to families and gift basket distribution

Since the beginning of our organization’s activities, we have helped over 50 families who could not afford the full medical expenses for their children.
We have also conducted nearly 20 gift basket distribution operations for mothers in the neonatology and maternity wards at HKK, as well as in other hospitals in the Kinshasa area.

Content of the gift baskets:

  • 5 diapers
  • 1 bottle of soap
  • 1 pack of wipes
  • 1 onesie
  • 1 sheet/swaddle
