Mobilisation Uzima
Act Together!

Since the beginning of 2025, the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo has been ravaged by an escalation of fighting, particularly affecting the provinces of North Kivu and South Kivu.

This humanitarian crisis is causing:

  • Loss of life and a large number of injuries.

  • Mass displacement of populations, leaving thousands of families homeless.

  • A shortage of clean water, food, and medical care, putting thousands of lives at risk (United Nations and Humanitarian Action, 2025; OCHA, 2025).

  • Regional hospitals are overwhelmed: in January 2025, they treated ten times more injured people than in December 2024. The majority of victims are civilians, primarily women and children (ICRC, 2025).

  • A major humanitarian crisis is also affecting women and girls. According to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), during the first fifteen days of February 2025, nearly 900 women and girls were victims of rape, an alarming average of 60 assaults per day (UNHCR, 2025).

This is why, with the support of a local organization, Une Chance de Vivre is launching the Mobilisation Uzima campaign (“Uzima” means “life” in Swahili).

Our goal is to raise $30,000 to provide immediate medical and humanitarian support to patients at the following 4 hospitals:

  • Panzi General Reference Hospital (HGRP)

  • CBCA Hospital of Ndosho

  • HEAL Africa
  • North Kivu Provincial Hospital
